I made my first mixtape at 7 years old when I got a boom box for Christmas. I believe it was mostly tracks from my Paula Abdul and Boyz II Men tapes but I had also figured out that if you plugged headphones into the mic jack, you could use them as a microphone, so there were introductions performed by myself as well. In various capacities, I am at least partially responsible for two social media websites built completely around the concept of sharing mixtapes with others: mixtapecollective.org (2006 - 2010ish) and tape.mx (2012 - 2016ish)(RIP).
